Yasuda Narumi

Yasuda Narumi is a Japanese actress, author, former model and former idol.

History

She started her career in 1981 as a part time teen model and bit-part actress. A photographer she worked with at the time recommended her to staff looking for a singer for the theme song of the 1984 Miyazaki Hayao film Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind. She was selected for the role and made her debut as an idol. However, the theme song ended up being cut from the movie and replaced with an instrumental track due to directorial differences, so the single did not become a hit like her production team planned. Nonetheless, her singing career achieved moderate success, but her acting career started to take off around that time, so she retired from singing in 1985. She briefly returned to singing in 1988 and then retired again. However, she continues to work in the acting industry.

She began to sing live occasionally starting in the early 2020s. In 2024, she released an anniversary single celebrating 40 years since her debut as an idol in collaboration with the song's composer, Hosono Haruomi.
