“ I won't mention any titles, but the fact that we've had several "good horror movies" recently is not just enjoyable, it's a relief. By "good" here, I mean "scary".

First horror movies tend to get made on low budgets, so they don't need to have big-name stars. Then if they're R-rated, they're relatively free. They have the same spirit as rebellious rock songs. Horror is an expression of society's anxiety, so you can really tell how talented the people that made it are when you see one. So that sort of movie being "good" means our society, culture, and that spirit aren't stagnating but rather "developing". So when I see a good horror movie, I always both enjoy it and feel relieved.
