England (Cornish: Pow Sows) is a country located mainly on the island of Great Britain. England is part of the United Kingdom, i.e. the British state, and is the largest of its parts, both in terms of area and population. Its population makes up about 84 percent of the British population, and in terms of area, England covers two-thirds of the British Isles. England is bordered by Wales in the west and Scotland in the north. The country is surrounded by the North Sea, the Irish Sea, the Atlantic and the English Channel.
England has not had self-government since the 1707 Treaty of Union, when the Kingdom of Great Britain was established. However, it differs in its legal system from Scotland and Northern Ireland, as well as from smaller areas such as the Isle of Man, because it belongs to the whole of England and Wales. The largest city in England, London, is also the capital of the United Kingdom. The name England comes from the Old English word Englaland and means the "land of the English".
As series protagonist James Bond is a British national (with family connections to Scotland and Switzerland), almost every Bond story has him in England to some capacity. Beyond briefings at MI6 Headquarters in London, Bond has travelled to other parts of England, like in Moonraker (novel), Goldfinger, Thunderball (+ Never Say Never Again), Licence Renewed, A View to a Kill (film), Win, Lose or Die, amongst others.

Trivia
- Despite England being effectively his home country, James Bond rarely if ever visits any region other than London and South East England. This is likely due to MI6/SIS that Bond works under being the foreign intelligence agency of UK and meant to work outside its boundaries, with MI5/Security Service operating within UK boundaries.
