"Finally" is a song by British singer-songwriter James Arthur, released as the thirteenth and final track from his second studio album, Back from the Edge (2016). He said of the song, "Funnily enough, I wrote this one when I was at my very very lowest. It's weird because it sounds as though I have got to a point of clarity in the song, the lyrics sound as though I'm in a place where finally my parents are proud of me, finally everyone believes in me again, finally I'm in a place where I am really happy and everything worked out but actually when I wrote that song I wasn't, I was at probably my lowest and I was just envisaging being in that place. I think when I first recorded it I was on the brink of a breakdown. I don't know how that came about it just came from a really honest place". He continued, "Funnily enough, I did get to a place where I was happy again, I am in a place where I am happy again, and its perfect to be the last song on the album, it can be the finale, if you'd like".[1]

Lyrics
[Verse 1]
This is all I ever wanted
All I ever thought I'd be
It's the only place I truly feel
As though I can be me
[Pre-Chorus 1]
But the way I arrived
It was overnight
I've been on my worst behaviour
Been on my worst behaviour
[Chorus]
If only it ain't been like this
Now I can hold my heart in a fist
And all the voices leave
I can finally put it on my sleeve
Oh, if only they'd really seen it
Maybe they would finally believe me
When I say I've won
And my father gets to see his son
That he can feel proud of
He can feel proud of
He's proud of me
[Verse 2]
This is all I ever wanted
All I ever thought I'd be
But the way that I behaved
Could have seen quite the contrary
[Pre-Chorus 2]
I felt all the lives
They're out of sight
I've been on my worst behaviour
Been on my worst behaviour
[Chorus]
If only I ain't been like this
Now I can hold my heart in a fist
And all the voices leave
I can finally put it on my sleeve
Oh, if only they'd really seen it
Maybe they would finally believe me
When I say I've won
And my mother gets to see her son
That she can feel proud of
She can feel proud of
She's proud of me
[Bridge]
She's proud of me
They're proud of me
They're proud of me
They're proud of me
She's proud of me
She's proud of
She's proud of
They're proud of
They're proud of
They're proud of me
They're proud of me
They're proud of me
She's proud of
They're proud of
[Chorus]
If only I ain't been like this
Now I can hold my heart in a fist
And all the voices leave
I can finally put it on my sleeve
Oh, if only they had really seen it
Then maybe they would finally believe me
When I say I've won
And my family gets to see their
That they can feel proud of
They can feel proud of
They can feel proud of
They're proud of me
