Overview
A Bounty is an amount that a criminal or prisoner gets when robbing different places, killing Police officers, assisting the Museum robbery, and blowing up the Cargo Train vault. It can only be collected by a police officer arresting criminals or prisoners. Police can also receive a criminal or prisoner's bounty if they reset, leave the game, switch teams near them, or if a criminal or prisoner drives over a Road Spike that the police have deployed. The price in bounties depends on how much a player breaks the law, like heisting, killing a police officer, or driving over a road spike.
On October 5th, Badimo announced that Bounties will no longer reset on death, and an increase in bounty receiving, with your bounty equaling 30% of all the money you stole. [1]
In the 2023 Fall Update, bounties no longer reset on death with a new cap at 
15k. On Day 1 of the 2023 5 Days of Vehicles Event, the bounty cap has been raised to 20k.
Police
Police have handcuffs that they can use to Arrest prisoners & criminals. Some criminals who have committed various offences will have a bounty, If they do and they are within the top 6 bounties in the server, they will be placed on the Top Criminals Board.
If a police officer successfully arrests a prisoner or a criminal with a bounty, they will earn their bounty, along with a message in the chat saying "[Server] (police's display name) collected (criminal's display name)'s $[bounty amount] bounty!".
If a police officer drives a criminal to the Volcano Criminal Base after a Museum robbery, they used to gain $100 per person assisted in bounty. This number would not show on the Top Criminals Board and doesn't appear in said police officer's GUI, this was removed in an unknown update.
If a criminal resets, leaves the game, or switches teams, the closest officer will collect the prisoner/criminal's bounty. However this does not happen if no officers are close enough or with criminals in the mansion boss fight.
When the Mansion robbery was updated to allow police officers to participate in the fight, the $2,000 bounty addition was not removed. Thus, cops can also gain bounty by assisting in the defeat with the CEO. This bounty will be visible above the minimap as it is for criminals, including the red text color, contrasting with the blue UI scheme of police.
Notes
- A criminal does not lose money if a police arrests them and collects their bounty.
- Prior to the 1 Year Update, resetting as a criminal will cause a $300 arrest cash and your bounty to be lost unless you reset after being ejected, shot, or tased by a police.
- After the 1 Year Update, your bounty and arrest cash would be sent to the nearest police officer if you reset. Your bounty and arrest cash would also be given to a police officer who recently ejected, tasered, or shot you.
- As of the March 2021 Update, your bounty will also be sent to the nearest police officer (depending on how close they are) if you leave the game or switch teams.
- If you died through other means, such as dying by lasers/spotlights found in various robberies, being run over by a Train, or taking fall damage, your bounty will be lost but, it won't be collected by any police officers. However, this was changed and your bounty will only be lost if you get arrested or reset.
- The higher your bounty is, the higher your paycheck would be as a criminal (the maximum is $300 ($360 with VIP Gamepass). However, in the Fall 2023 Update, criminals no longer receive paychecks.
- As of Season 18, the bounty limit has been reduced to 15,000.

Criminals
When a criminal has a bounty, they can see it beside their screen under the Cash icon. Your bounty increases by doing various things, such as robbing stores and heists, killing police, breaching the vault of the Cargo Train, breaking the glass on the Passenger Train, or assisting a Museum robbery.
Killing a police with missiles does not add to your bounty, but any guns (including Rocket Launcher and Grenades) will give you a bounty.
On a Private Server, your bounty goes up by less of an amount. This is most likely due to balancing reasons.
It is wise to be cautious when handling a large bounty, as more police are likely to try to arrest you if you are carrying larger bounties.
Most Wanted Board
Having a bounty will earn players a place on the Top Criminals Board, This is located at the City Police Station, the Prison and formerly, in the Police HQ. There, the police can see the players with the 6 highest bounties in the server, and potentially seek them out to arrest them and collect the bounty.. This was previously known as the "Most Wanted Board" until the update of 8/14/2018.
Glitches
- As a prisoner, your bounty will not be displayed. In order to view your bounty, players must escape and become a criminal, and then obtain a bounty.
- This glitch was patched in an unknown update.
- When you're a criminal with a bounty and you switch teams to police, sometimes your bounty will still show up even if you already switched teams.
