Masanori Osaki (大崎政範 ), born on February 9, 1986, is a composer formerly employed at Falcom. He joined the company sometime in 2008 and left in 2010.
Along with Momiyama, he infused Falcom with a new, distinctive style during the PSP era thanks to his aggressive rock/metal ("Crossing Rage!", "Scias", "Formidable Enemy", "Intense Chase"), restlessness orchestrations ("An Assault", "Large Cave of Frenzy", "White Ash Ordeal"), synth pops ("C.S.P.D.", "During Mission Accomplishment", "Miss You"), collected tunes ("The Sacred Wind", "Firm Strength") and ballad pieces ("Let Tomorrow Take Care", "True Bonds"). Furthermore, because of his experience as a drummer, his handling of percussion instruments can be surprising and is given great prominence. His eclectic style and skill shined the most in extravagant, spidery symphonic metal tracks with like "Legend of the Five Great Dragons", "Ancient Disputation" and "Arrival Existence" -- these three themes are like sampler packs of several of Osaki's styles/tools all rolled into a single place. His most representative, popular tracks are "Innocent Primeval Breaker" and "Inevitable Struggle", particularly Jindo's arrangements of them (In-game Ys Seven Opening, Zero no Kiseki Super Arrange Version).
He was only employed at Falcom for around three years, starting with Zwei II and ending with Trails from Zero, though several of his leftovers were used after his departure. He seemed to have a very good knack for instrument application and songs that contained "epic" stylings. He also had a very diverse composition style, ranging from dramatic orchestral pieces to more subdued moody tunes. He seemed capable of writing music for almost any situation in a game, whether it was area themes, event themes, battle themes, and opening/ending music. These statements alone don't do justice to how varied Osaki's work was, with Ys Seven alone ("Let Tomorrow Take Care", "Altago Ring") and Zwei II ("Starfall Hamlet", "For My Master") being just a few great representations of his multifaceted talents.
