Landmines (or simply, Mines) is one kind of fortifications that can be constructed by Engineers.
Landmines are not neutral, unlike sandbags and barbwire. It belongs to the player/AI that plants it, so it won't friendly fire your own units, as well your allies'.
Landmines, interestingly, are not just static devices in Iron Harvest. They possess a large sensor range; when a target enters this range, the mine will get up and crawl towards the target until it detonates.
The explosives inside landmines are highly effective against Mechs; while perfectly capable of blowing up infantry if they get caught in the blast radius, landmines are tuned to only detect and attack Mechs. Their damage reflects this.
Interestingly, landmines cost 1 population. This is likely a balancing factor to counterweight their very high damage to expensive Mech units, and the serious difficulty in countering them before they blow up. Commanders should take advantage of their walking nature and large detection range to get the most out of what mines they do place.
