Okugata

The Okugata (奥方, "Lady") was the head of a castle who became the Infant's victim of manipulation.

History

After the destruction of Mount Hakurei, many yōkai had been reeking havor throughout the area. Naraku's infant incarnation possessed a noble woman and had her order her servants to detain all suspicious travellers to her castle and to have them executed. She captured Kagome, Miroku, and Sango after Inuyasha left them to search for Kikyō after a wondering priest told them he saw her. The lady ordered her servants to bring Kagome to her chambers after the three of them arrived at her castle and that the rest of the detainees were to be killed.

After arriving at her chambers, the lady proclaimed that Kagome was the only one who could sense the Shikon Jewel shards now that Kikyō was dead. It was then that the priest who told Inuyasha that Kikyō was alive had appeared. His body then collapsed in front of Kagome and foamed up. It was revealed that he was controlled by Kagura's Dance of the Dead in order to separate Inuyasha from his friends. The lady then proclaimed that Miroku and Sango would be killed by her servants. Kagome could sense that it was the Infant she was carrying that was controlling her to speak for him. He explained that he wanted Kagome's eyes to find the remaining jewel shards and had the lady carry him over to her. After he grasped onto Kagome to search for the darkness in her heart, the lady collapsed and died.

Physical description

She is a women with pale skin and long back hair. She has most of it tied in a loose ponytail and two locks over her ears.

Outfit

She wears a colorful kimono that reaches all the way down to the floor.

Manga vs. Anime

  • The scene of the lady collapsing after the Infant possess Kagome is not in the manga.

Trivia

  • In Episode 125, once the Infant abandons the lady to possess Kagome, her face is seen over the left side of her body with her eyes closed. In the next episode, her face in inexplicably over the right of her body with her eyes open. The later position accurately portrays how her body appears in the manga.
