Synopsis
- Toshu recounts his meeting with Ryujin and his request to make a Dakki.
- The power of Tessaiga is absorbed by Dakki and Tessaiga begins to crack.
Summary
- Toshu thanks Inuyasha for giving him the power he needed to kill Ryujin. Toshu explains he always wanted to hone a powerful blade, one much like Inuyasha's own Tessaiga. He discovered the more hateful he was when forging them, the more powerful the blade would be. He began wandering battlefields to find swords rich in hate and stained with blood and melting them down to make new hate filled blades. Then one day, Ryujin came to him. Toshu begged the demon "Please... allow me to forge you a sword!" and Ryujin agreed, having Toshu craft him a fine demon blade. Ryujin gave a shard of his scales to the swordsmith, allowing him to craft a demon blade. Miroku infers that means Toshu never had any intention of giving Dakki away, and Toshu confirms this. He admits he wanted the power all to himself. Inuyasha warns the human to drop the blade, because as a mortal he cannot handle the demonic energy within. Toshu doesn't listen however, and says that Dakki wants to drink Tessaiga's power. Myoga says if Toshu won't listen, Inuyasha should just cut him down. They came to steal his energy to begin with, and he won't listen to reason.
- Inuyasha and Toshu begin to do battle. Toshu explains that every time Dakki crosses blades with Tessaiga, it steals a bit of the fang's power. After a few blows, a crack forms in Tessaiga. Inuyasha remembers Totosai's words about how if he loses to Dakki, Tessaiga will remain a regular rusted sword forever. As they do battle, more and more of Toshu's body becomes covered in scales, consumed by the demonic energy of Dakki. Inuyasha again tries to reason with Toshu that the demon blade is using him, but he won't listen, confident that Dakki has chosen him as its weilder. Forming more cracks, Tessaiga is on the brink of shattering. Suddenly wind starts forming around the cracks in Tessaiga.
