Chapter 020

Dammit, Pops, Gimme Back the Eight-Six! (バカおやじハチロク返せ!!, Baka Oyaji Hachi Roku Kaese!!, "Stupid old man, give back the Eight-Six!!") is the twentieth chapter of Initial D.

Plot

Iketani, Kenji and Itsuki head up to Akina to face the NightKids, but decide to pull over for a bit on seeing the size of the crowd. Iketani wants to try and change Takumi's mind again, believing that Takumi could win even though the others don't agree. Iketani and Kenji decide to go and get Takumi, while Itsuki chooses to stay behind as he doesn't feel ready to face him.

At the tofu store, Takumi agonises about being unable to race, as it's the first time he's ever actually wanted to. He hears the sound of a car outside and is surprised to find Iketani and Kenji waiting outside. He explains to them that Bunta left with the Eight-Six so he can't race, even though he wants to. Iketani suggests he drive Kenji's 180SX but Takumi shoots him down, as he wouldn't be able to adjust to the car in time. The three choose to wait for Bunta to return.

At quarter to ten, Takumi is surprised to hear the familiar sound of the Eight-Six's engine in the distance.
