Seattle is the largest city in the state of Washington. It is based on the real city on the same name.

History

20th Century

In 1962, the Seattle Sky Needle was constructed during the city's world fair during that same year.

D.U.P. Occupation

Seven years after Cole MacGrath used the RFI to cure the Ray Field Plague, Seattle was occupied by the Department of Unified Protection, a federal government agency formed to detain Conduits and ensure the events of Empire City and New Marais never happen again. During this time, they completely locked down Seattle, establishing various checkpoints and security measures throughout the city and detaining everyone they deemed Conduits, while also spreading propoganda throughout Seattle.[1] However, two weeks into the D.U.P. occupation, Seattle was shown to have suffered from the D.U.P.'s totalitarian presence.

The game's main protagonist, Delsin Rowe, grew up just outside Seattle, in a Akomish reserve across the 520 bridge in Washington, and after he gained his powers saving a "Bioterrorist" named Hank Daughtry from a burning bus. After his first encounter with Conduit and D.U.P. leader Brooke Augustine, Delsin travled to the city to get Concrete powers to save his tribe.[2] During his quest, he began liberating the city's districts from the D.U.P. and began engaging in local affairs such as stopping drug activity by local drug dealers, gaining respect from the citizens as time passed on. He also allied with Abigail Walker, an ex-junkie who can control neon and Eugene Sims, a gamer with the power to control video. Additionally, Delsin's actions attracted the attention of Celia Penderghast, a Conduit with the ability to control paper who began murdering individuals linked to anti-Conduit communities and leaving behind clues for Delsin to find until she revealed herself and her motives to him.

After defeating Augustine, freeing imprisoned Conduits at Curdun Cay, and gaining new Concrete powers to save the Akomish, Delsin eventually ended the D.U.P. occupation of Seattle and liberated the city.

Locations

520 Bridge

520 Bridge IFSS

The 520 Bridge is a concrete and steel bridge that Brooke Augustine destroyed during the start of Infamous: Second Son. It is located near Salmon Bay.

It is a long bridge lined with many wrecked cars. Some parts of it have fallen into the water; some are unstable and will collapse if walked on.

This was where Delsin Rowe first acquired the Car Boost and Smoke Thrusters ability. After leaving Salmon Bay, Delsin was to make his way across the wrecked bridge to find his way into Seattle. He had to use his newly acquired abilities to make it safely across. Once he made it to the end, he met up with his brother Reggie Rowe. Here, Reggie almost fell to his death when he nearly found himself dangling from a ledge, but Delsin managed to save him.

Trivia

  • This is the first real life city where an InFamous game has been set in. Although, locations have been changed to make it more fitting for the Game's Map, e.g. The Crocodile.
  • Although this is the first real life city to be featured in the series, Washington D.C. has been mentioned several times in earlier entries throughout the franchise, and Abigail is from New Jersey, although she doesn't say which city she's from.
  • Jumping into water and swimming back to shore from the wrecked entrance bridge at Queen Anne will have the player permanently experiencing rain in the city.
  • Like in Infamous, trains are present, but now are monorails.
  • Sucker Punch Productions co-founder Chris Zimmerman has revealed that many of the pedestrians in the game are real Seattleites, and that Sucker Punch held auditions for ordinary citizens to get 3D scanned and their faces put in-game.
  • As First Light reuses assets from Second Son, many of the steam vents, and radio dishes Delsin could use to get around the city are present in the DLC, although they are not usable as Abigail is a Neon-based conduit only.
  • Many of the city's stores and businesses reference previous Sucker Punch games before Second Son was released.
    • There is an electronics store chain named Cole McG's Electronics, a reference to Cole MacGrath and his electric powers.
    • In the public playground, there is a mural depicting three cartoon raccoons; one carrying a bag of money, one wearing a blue-hat and a third carrying a brown and gold cane. Next to the mural are crude graffiti pictures of Sly, Bentley and Murray.
    • In the Lantern District, there is a bank called Cooper and MacGrath, named after Sly Cooper and the aforementioned deceased Cole MacGrath.
    • A gas-station in the Lantern District is named Panda King Gas, named after the Sly Cooper character of the same name.
