The Hunter is a line of Badnik, modelled after a hermit crab, that was created by Dr. Eggman to serve as part of his robot forces in his efforts to conquer the world. They were notably paart of Dr Eggman's robotic forces during his attempted conquest of Flicky Island, where one was seen in a flashback of Tails and Knuckles.

Background Information
- The Hunter was based on the badnik that has so far appeared exclusively in Sonic 3D.
- It was initially unnamed, thoiugh it was given its name in its source code of Sonic 3D.
- it is presumed that unlike the badniks used by modern Eggman, these badniks exhibited characteristic traits, such as fawning over the doctor and celebrating his birthday on their own volition.
