The Lighter is an item in the game Ib. Garry has owned it for years, though it is unknown how he obtained it or why he possesses it.
Usage
The Lighter is first used in the room with the Separation painting, located in the Violet Area. After everything goes black, Garry will state how the darkness is a problem and remember his Lighter. He will light it only to see that pleading messages have been scribbled in what seems to be crayon all over the room. Garry will then state that the new words are not good for his mental health in a request to leave the room as quickly as possible.
Later, in the Toy Box, if Garry is alive, he will use his Lighter to burn away the thorns blocking the stairs to the room containing Mary's portrait. After entering the room and encountering Mary shortly after, he will burn down her portrait, killing Mary in the process. In the route in which Garry dies, Ib will notice the Lighter in Garry's pocket. Ib will have to choose between taking it with her or leaving it with Garry. If Ib takes the Lighter, she will have to eat the lemon candy Garry gave her in order to make room in her pockets. She can then either burn Mary's portrait, which triggers the Forgotten Portrait ending, or leave the gallery, which triggers the Together, Forever ending. In the Together, Forever ending, Mary will notice the Lighter and tell Ib that it's dangerous before taking it to throw it away.
In the ending Welcome to the World of Guertena, when Mary throws a welcoming party for Ib and Garry, she will find the Lighter in Garry's pocket (though it's not directly mentioned) and feed it to Red Eyes, referring to it as "TRASH" to dispose of.
