Occult

Occult is a medical term referring to an inability to detect something. It's generally used in two contexts:

• Occult infection - an infection that causes no fever or other symptoms.
• Occult blood - digested blood in the large intestine and stool that does not present as bleeding. It's often a preliminary sign of colon cancer and can be detected in lab tests.
