Firegleam

FireGleam

Firegleam is a path-blocking growth found in Horizon Forbidden West.

Description

"Hybridized crystalline and fungal growth of unknown origin. Can be ignited to trigger an explosion."
―In-game description

Named by Oseram delvers, Firegleam is a combustible red crystalline substance that grows in a manner similar to fungi. It is found growing on rock and ruin walls and can only be removed with the Igniter. Cavities containing caches and hidden passages can be found behind them. Some ruins and other puzzles require ignition to continue and some locations, such as Cauldron CHI, require igniting deposits of Firegleam to exit and complete quests.

Once the Igniter is used, the Firegleam will take a few seconds to detonate: the explosion is powerful enough to hurt a human (albeit not fatally) if they are too close.

Unstable Firegleam

In the Burning Shores, unstable Firegleam can be found throughout the region. This type of Firegleam is much more volatile and explodes shortly after impact from projectiles or melee strikes, dealing heavy damage to anything nearby and destroying crumbling structures and rocks.

Unstable Firegleam can be identified by their pink/purple color.

Trivia

  • Prior to the completion of Death's Door, it is simply called "Anomalous Growth" and cannot be interacted with by Aloy until the Igniter is obtained.
