The Witch of Endor was a Canaanite witch from the village of Endor in the Jezreel Valley. In 1055 BC, on the eve of the Battle of Mount Gilboa, King Saul consulted the Witch of Endor to conjure a vision of the dead prophet Samuel, who told Saul that God had left him, would give his kingdom to David, and would deliver the Israelites to the Philistines in the ensuing battle.
