Bulgarians are a South Slavic ethnic group native to Bulgaria and its neighboring regions. Bulgarians are descended from the Thracians, Slavs, and Bulgars, and they are predominantly Orthodox Christian. Bulgarians form the majority of the populations of Bulgaria and Macedonia, with 6,000,000 living in Bulgaria, 1,297,981 in Macedonia, and 800,000 in Turkey.
