The Red Sword (붉은 검), also known as the Ihwa's Sword, is Ihwa's trademark Shard sword. It is a powerful sword that was once kept by her father Ijincheon, who originally stored it away in his Special Storage. He later gave it to Ihwa as a gift.
Description
The sword is beautifully crafted with a slight curve and the blade having an orange hue that has a strip attached to it.
Abilities
The Red Sword is an extremely rare type of Shard that is impossible to draw if the user is not powerful enough. Ihwa regards it to be more difficult to wield than the One Hundred-Sided Blade even after becoming strong enough to draw the blade. Ijincheon has stated that it's a sword perfectly suited for someone with a lot of bloodlust like Ihwa who embodies the research and teachings of Yushin. Its special ability is unknown, but according to Ijincheon to activate it, the user needs to put blood on the blade.
Even without the full extent of its special ability, the sword is incredibly powerful, having allowed the Hero Killer to cut through a mountain in half from a distance upon drawing it for the first time.[1]
History
The exact origins of the sword are unknown; however, the sword was used by Ijincheon, the famed Sword Hunter and Executioner of the Four Swordsmen and was another addition in his collection of weaponry, it was stored inside an extra-dimensional space.
Story
Assault on Castle Gray Arc
Ijincheon gives the beautiful sword as a gift to his daughter, Ihwa in their reunion.
War of Disbandment Arc
After buying her father's freedom, Ijncheon asks Ihwa how she likes the sword, and she tells him that she's been keeping it safe abut uses the One Hundred-Sided Blade more as it's easier to wield. She tries to ask what abilities her sword has, but Ijincheon draws his sword.
He unleashes one of his techniques and attacks Ihwa as she defends herself, and she asks what he's doing. Ijincheon explains that since Ihwa wasn't taught properly by Yushin she had to learn and imitate how to use his Shadowless Blade by observing the former Elder wield a sword, however, unlike him or Yushin who are strongly bound by one weapon in the sword she isn't bounded by the sword as its one of her many weapons. She was raised to use other weapons and even the Gifts of others that she sees fit in different situations.
In other words, they're all swords for her in a way. Since Yushin researched how to efficiently kill others throughout his life, that teaching is certainly embedded in her style with it being so murderous. Ijincheon thinks that perhaps Ihwa was fated to hold the sword in her hands. He tells her should try putting some blood on it and that she will realize what he means by this as he attempts to leave.[2]
