That was the moment I realized what I must do: I'm good at this, at killing. Maybe because I'm a little crazy. If I kill bad people, I can make the world a better place.
„
~ Sheele embracing that her only talent is killing and that she can make better for others by killing evil people, even if doing so questions her sanity.
“
Night Raid... is my home to be. I love you all. I had so much fun. Tatsumi... I'm sorry... I won't be able to hold you in my arms anymore.
„
~ Sheele's final thoughts before her death.
Sheele is a major protagonist in the anime/manga series Akame ga Kill!. She was a member of the Revolutionary Army's assassin group, Night Raid, and wielder of the Scissor-like Imperial Arms, Extase.
She killed her former best friend's abusive ex-boyfriend without hesitation in order to save her life since he was about to strangle her.
She joined the Revolutionary Army and Night Raid to make real change in the empire by eliminating corrupt members.
She is quite affable, usually being very polite and kind to others. Although she did threaten Tatsumi that if he didn't join the team, they would kill him due to how much information he knew, it's made pretty clear she didn't say it out of malice and was merely socially awkward.
Even when she does kill her targets, she often apologizes afterwards and even bowed formally to one of her victims, there's also no indication that she kills out of irony or personal satisfaction. Furthermore, most if not all of the people she's killed were completely deserving.
This overall reduces her prevention of being a lethal hero since it shows that she still uphold honorable standards towards her enemies, regardless of how cruel they are.
She bifurcated Aria's mother, killing her instantly. This was due to her part in torturing innocent people across the countryside (especially the poor and misfortunate) by poisoning them, this also put an end to her family's corruption and even avenged the death of Tatsumi's friend, Ieyasu, who eventually succumbed to said poison.
She voluntarily trained Tatsumi with one of her teachings being how to move around and swim in armor, this training method would become posthumously helpful as it allowed Tatsumi to quickly adapt wearing Incursio for the first time, an armor-type teigu.
She comforted Tatsumi once he became somber about having to accept never seeing his friends again and that they're gone for good, warmly embracing him while also reassuring him that he can cry as much as he needs to and promised that she wouldn't tell anyone, even thanking him by making her feel "useful" for something.
In the Manga, she and Tatsumi saved a girl named Nea from being killed and very likely raped by two criminals.
She took great care of Nea and even promised that she would come back to see her again, although she was unable to fulfill her promise due to her unfortunate demise, she still had a positive influence on her.
She killed the man responsible for ordering the death of Nea's family, avenging the girl's mother.
She was very useful during the fight against Seryu and Hekatonkheires, an organic-type teigu, managing to subdue the former in close-quarters combat.
When Koro activated its trump on-command and began slowly crushing Mine to death, Sheele rushed to her aid as quick as possible by cutting off the latter's arm, saving Mine's life despite having an opportunity to kill Seryu, showing that she puts her friends' lives before an objective.
Her most heroic deed was during her final moments. Despite being in half, she kept herself alive through the sheer willpower to save her friend, using the remainder of her strength to activate Extase's trump card which created a blinding light that allowed Mine to escape before she could be ambushed and killed as well, rendering herself as the only causality in the process.
Everyone in Night Raid becomes devastated and horrified upon hearing the news of her death, with Sheele being collectively mourned by each and every member, showing how deeply cherished she was.
Her death also served as a major driving point for characters like Akame, Tatsumi, and Mine, who all aspired to get stronger and keep moving forward after her loss.
Why She Don't Stand Out
While she irrefutably passes the general standards for everything she did for Nea and even sacrificing her life to save Mine, she still fails the overall stupendously high Admirable Standards of Akame ga Kill!, because her most admirable deed is her sacrifice, which while admirable, all it accomplished was saving Mine's life. It's still very little compared to:
Tatsumi, who fought general Esdeath multiple times to protect all of his comrades, tried to redeem her despite the atrocities she committed and even saved the entire Capital as a whole from Emperor Makoto.
Akame, who overcame the brainwashing she suffered from the Empire, besides killed Esdeath, the Empire's most powerful force and the villain with the highest body count in the entire series by far, freeing the entire country from her terror.
Najenda, who led Night Raid to victory and was the one responsible for convincing Akame to leave the Empire.
Leone, who was the one responsible for Tatsumi joining Night Raid and caused the death of Prime Minster Honest, an irredeemably corrupt man who is basically the root of evil and responsible for all the corruption spread throughout the Empire in the first place.
Mine, who confronted Esdeath to save Tatsumi and was even willing to sacrifice her own life to save everyone in Night Raid by killing Budo (and actually dying from overexertion in the anime).
Bulat, who became a mentor for Tatsumi and not only trained him physically but mentally as well, being a key reason for why Tatsumi became strong enough to accomplish all the heroic deeds he would in the future.
And Susanoo, who saved the entirety of Night Raid from Stylish's army and sacrificed himself by facing Esdeath head on despite knowing he's no match for her.
She proclaims that she was not shaken at all despite having killed for the first time in her life. While she doesn't kill out of malicious intent or sadism, this implies she still has some lethality. She also wasn't bothered at all when told her parents were murdered, which shows she might have some signs of sociopathy.
Even Akame took some time to get used to killing people whereas Sheele felt completely calm about killing in genereal, which makes Sheele's prevention fairly significant.
Trivia
She, along with Chelsea, is the only ones Akame ga Kill! heroes to be Heroics Benchmarks so far.
Fittingly, her killer, Seryu Ubiquitous, is scaled as a Villainous Benchmark and they were headlined on their respective wikis on the same month.
