Zoé

Zoé is one of the main protagonists in the French/American 2010 animated film, A Cat in Paris. She is an eight-year old girl living in Paris, France with her widowed mother, Jeanne who is a police superintendent. Zoé is also the owner of Dino.

Zoé is voiced by Oriane Zani in the French version of the film while she is voiced by Lauren Weintraub in the English version.

Personality

Zoé is a little girl living with her mother, Jeanne and pet cat, Dino. However, after her father was murdered by Victor Costa, a crime lord, Zoé was devastated and refused to speak to anyone, including her own mother. Zoé's sadness and grief over her father's death left Zoé to feel isolated and lonely where Dino seemed to be her only friend and emotional support. Despite her relationship with her mother being complicated, Zoé does love her mother and does care about her well-being.

Zoé also has a sense of curiosity. Knowing her pet cat leaves her home at night, but comes back in the morning, Zoé decided to follow Dino one night while her mother was out working late, just to see where her cat goes at night. This curiosity led her to become a target of Victor Costa upon spotting him planning on a heist for stealing the Colossus of Nairobi and discovering nanny, Claudine to be a part of Costa's gang. However, Zoé's curiosity also drew her to Nico whom she formed a bond with as the thief constantly saved and protected her from Costa.

All in all, Zoé is extremely sweet, caring and helpful, especially to those she cares for. Zoé also shares a strong bond with Dino as she has a tendency to keep any gifts he gives her (such as dead lizards), feeds him from the kitchen table, sleeps with him, and lets him comfort her whenever she feels sad. Also, Zoé saw Nico as a second father to her and it was her fondness for Nico that she began talking again. Zoé even cared about Nico's well-being where she tried to help him when he was hanging for dear life during the final battle with Victor Costa.
