Vietnam (Japanese: ベトナム Betonamu, Vietnamese: Việt Nam) is a supporting character in Hetalia. She is one of the oldest characters in Asia. [Note 1]
Known as a country who has a best history.
However, dislikes many female characters, she is a non-speaking cameo character in anime.
Vietnam is the second Asian female country, and with Thailand, is the Southeast Asian countries, appeared firstly in Hetalia.
She had not given human name but fans gave her a human name that it is popular, Trần Chung Liên.
She is now a communist and socialist country.
Appearance
She wears a green áo dài, white pants, the Vietnamese traditional clothes and holding a wood boat paddle. Wearing a nón lá on her hand.
Has gold eyes, long dark brown hair, she tied a low ponytails with string red bow.
In World Stars, she wears a white uniform. Lately, Himaruya included a nón lá with this outfit on her in chapter 376.
Personality
She is rated as a "headstrong" woman by Himaruya because of having many strong Vietnamese women in Vietnam's history and solidarity, patriotism, and national self-respect of the Vietnamese people.
But she sometimes has a bit shy, how Taiwan looked her. However, in Christmas 2011, holding Girls Meeting in her house, she was not acting so shy when talking in front of Western girls.
She is not really interested in taking photos.

In chapter 376 in World Stars, she is told to be an energetic nation with lots of pride, values tradition and honor. Prefers coffee to tea and she adds a lot of condensed milk to it to make it bittersweet. She doesn't believe to things: "the middle person in a three-person photo will be unlucky" but she still doesn't want to stand in the middle in a three-person photo. It is unknown about what her previous life was but Himaruya had implied, wrote one sentence in one sketch of Vietnam, Trung sister. So Vietnam could have a relationship with Trung sister, Trung Trac and Trung Nhi in history. Moreover, in Axis Powers, it was known Vietnam is Taiwan's friend played together during this time, so they were surely to be part of Japanese Empire or Japan. Also in one drawing that drawn by Himaruya, Vietnam stood next to Cuba and with many communist countries, included Russia here and have a Soviet Union's flag, implied about Cold War and we make a conclusion that Vietnam was North Vietnam in this time.
In Hetalia ☆ Collezione profile of Vietnam, Himaruya mentioned that she is a older sister and seems the word "older sister" means Vietnam is the oldest countries in South East Asia and one of the oldest in Asia.
