Tofu Ono (小乃 東風, Ono Tōfū?) is a supporting character in Ranma ½. He is the doctor of Furinkan's medical clinic and a friend of the main characters. He is also the first love interest of Akane Tendo and the lover of Kasumi Tendo.
He was voiced by Yūji Mitsuya in the 1989 series and Toshiyuki Morikawa in the 2024 series in Japanese, and Ian James Corlett in the seasons 1-4 and Kirby Morrow in the seasons 6-7 of the 1989 series and Josh Keaton in the 2024 series.
Biography
Tofu Ono is a doctor who runs a clinic in Furinkan, for a long time he has been the love interest of Akane Tendo despite claiming that she hates boys by that time. Dr. Tofu has a peculiar art to heal injuries, being the reason why his clinic is so successful in the area. During the first chapters and episodes he heals Ranma's injuries after he is hit by Akane. He is also the boss of Ranma's father, Genma Saotome, who works in his clinic as a helper. Tofu also has some knowledge about the techniques used by the Joketsuzoku, so he helped Ranma to confront Shampoo and Cologne's tricks during their first meetings. However, despite all these virtues, Dr. Tofu has a weakpoint, and is that he is in love with Kasumi Tendo. When he is near Kasumi, Dr. Tofu loses his mind and is capable to do crazy things such as eating a book or injuring his clients instead of healing them. His love towards Kasumi is also one of the reasons why Akane forgets him and accepts her engagment with Ranma. As the story progresses Dr. Tofu becomes a less relevant character.
