Tanjuro Kamado a minor character of Demon Slayer : Kimetsu No Yaiba. He was the husband of Kie Kamado, and the father of Tanjiro, Nezuko, Takeo, Hanako, Shigeru, and Rokuta. Tanjuro was a flame dancer who used to dance the Hinokami Kagura during the winter.
He was voiced by Shin-ichiro Miki in Japanese and Kirk Thornton in English.
Physical Appearance
Resembling his eldest son Tanjiro, Tanjuro had the same kind of hair with a scar on his top right forehead and a pair of Hinokami Kagura earrings. His outfit was haori with black and orange colored squares.
Personality
Tanjuro was quiet, wise, and loving person. He had a loving relationship with his family and had a very close father-son bond with Tanjiro. Even when he was ill, he still danced the Hinokami Kagura to celebrate their family's tradition, showing that cares a lot for his loved ones. And although this was only mentioned, it was told that Tanjuro was extremely protective of his wife and children that he would show no respect to anyone who is their enemy.
Story Arcs
Mountain Natagumo
Tanjuro first appears at Mt. Natagumo inside Tanjiro's memory when Tanjiro was trying to escape Rui's blood demon art and fight in order to rescue Nezuko. In the memory vision, Tanjiro remembered a moment during his childhood of his father doing the Hinokami Kagura dance which made him wonder why Tanjuro does that even if his father was frail. His father replied that breathing techniques that exist, he reminded his son to make sure that the dance and the Hinokami Kagura earrings to get passed down without any interruption. Back in reality, Tanjuro's advice and flashback memory became a guiding light for Tanjiro to destroy Rui.
Mugen Train Arc
Tanjuro appears in Tanjiro's dream to give him hints to figure out the way to escape Enmu's blood demon art and defeat him.
Trivia
- Tanjuro is the only member of the Kamado family who did not die because of Muzan (not counting Tanjiro and Nezuko).
- Although Tanjuro never met Muzan Kibutsuji, Enmu, nor Rui, it's extremely likely that they are his enemies since Tanjuro hates anyone who is an enemy of his family and also because he helped Tanjiro defeat Enmu and Rui.
