Nikol

Nikol Ortiz (Japanese: ニコル, Nikoru) is one of the main protagonists of Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Future Redeemed. He was originally the son of Shulk and Fiora who was reincarnated as a mechanical engineer from Keves, before becoming one of the first members of the original Ouroboros.

Following Alpha's defeat, Nikol played his role in established the second city with the rest of the Ouroboros. He in particular would become the founder of House Ortiz and focus on developing the foundations of the mechanical systems that would support the City for years to come.

He is voiced by Masamune Ono and Joe Jameson in the Japanese and English versions of the game, respectively.

Personality

Nikol was initially a timid soldier, who was quiet and reserved. Because of his inability to summon a Blade, Nikol is heavily reliant on his Variable Backpack for combat. Despite his cowardly nature, he has shown a side of bravery of himself where he's willing to put his life on the line for others, as shown when he attempted to save Glimmer from Moebius W's attack. Unlike Glimmer, he was more co-operative and compliment on working with Matthew and A, in spite of having just met them.

Since joining the Liberators, Nikol has been able to be more open about his insecurities and past, most notably with Glimmer who he considered her to be his friend. He is more committed to aiding his newfound allies in defeating Alpha. Much like Shulk, he is very knowledgable in mechanical engineering and has a shared fondness of working with machinery.
