~ Jordan Kent |
Jordan Kent is one of the two deuteragonists (alongside Jonathan Kent) of Superman & Lois.
He is the son of Superman and Lois Lane and the fraternal twin brother of Jonathan Kent II. Unlike his brother, Jordan inherited their father's superpowers which became one of the main factors why Jordan and his family moved to Smallville. Eventually, his brother began calling him Superboy.
History
Background
Jordan Kent was born in 2006, shortly before his twin brother, Jonathan.
When he was a child, Jordan was diagnosed with social anxiety disorder after suffering outbursts and tantrums. During their summer vacation, Jordan and Jonathan often joined their parents on visits to their grandmother, Martha Kent, in Smallville, where Jordan became friends with Lana Lang Cushing's daughter, Sarah Cushing, who Jordan later developed a crush on.
Eventually, Jordan trained to be a pianist but quit the classes when his anxiety got worse.
Moving to Smallville
When Jordan and Jon were at school, their grandmother died of a stroke and they attended her funeral.
Powers and abilities
Powers
- Human-Kryptonian Hybrid physiology: Jordan Kent possesses a unique human-Kryptonian hybrid physiology, allowing him to develop incredible powers under the influence of Earth's yellow sun. His hybrid genetic makeup gives him the same potential abilities as a full-blooded Kryptonian. Zeta-Rho even recognized Jordan as a perfect vessel for Kryptonian power, claiming that Jordan's untapped strength could be fully activated. When Zeta-Rho took control of his body, Jordan displayed the full range of Kryptonian powers, performing feats beyond anything he had imagined. Since being freed from Zeta-Rho's control, Jordan's powers have continued to grow and evolve. Tal-Rho and Lois Lane noted significant progress in his abilities, prompting his grandfather, Sam Lane, to take a hands-on approach in training Jordan. Through this training, Jordan learned to sharpen his skills and maintain control over his emerging powers. Sam Lane later confided to Lois that Jordan was becoming one of the most powerful beings on the planet. Interestingly, Jordan's father, Superman, observed that Jordan reacts differently to Kryptonite exposure than a full Kryptonian would. This unique resistance suggests that Jordan’s hybrid nature could one day enable him to surpass his father in strength and ability. His journey toward mastering his powers reflects both his growing confidence and the immense potential within him.
- Solar energy absorption: Jordan Kent’s body is capable of absorbing, storing, and using energy from Earth's yellow sun to power his abilities, much like a full Kryptonian. However, his hybrid physiology doesn't allow him to store solar energy as efficiently as his father, Clark Kent. Jor-El’s AI explained that Jordan can only absorb and retain limited amounts of solar energy, which is why his powers took much longer to manifest compared to Clark. While Clark began developing his powers by the age of four, it wasn’t until Jordan was fourteen that his abilities first emerged. Despite this slower development, Jordan experienced a surge in his powers after being temporarily controlled by Zeta-Rho. During that time, his abilities were pushed to their full potential, allowing him to display the complete range of powers that he had struggled to access before.
- Accelerated Healing Factor: Jordan Kent possesses an accelerated healing factor, allowing him to recover from injuries much faster than an ordinary human. This ability has been demonstrated on several occasions. For example, he quickly bounced back after being attacked by Tag and showed no lasting effects after being tackled and overwhelmed by an entire rival football team. His enhanced healing helps him stay resilient in tough situations, making it difficult for injuries to slow him down for long.
- Flight: Jordan Kent has developed the ability to fly, which first manifested in a moment of desperation when he needed to save Kyle Cushing from a fire. Initially, Jordan struggled to control his flight, but he showed significant progress during a battle with Jonathan-El. Recognizing his potential, his father, Superman, began training him to master the skill. While Jordan still had difficulty with landings early on, he gradually improved with practice. Over time, Jordan's flying abilities advanced considerably. He became capable of soaring across entire continents in moments and even leaving Earth's atmosphere. With continued training and experience, Jordan’s flight skills evolved into one of his most impressive and reliable powers.
- Superhuman Durability: Jordan Kent possesses superhuman durability, making his body far more resistant to injury than that of an ordinary human. Early on, this durability was inconsistent. For example, he only suffered a mild concussion despite falling 30 feet and having large metal beams crash onto him. However, he could still be injured by normal humans through punches and kicks, and he was vulnerable to attacks from Tag, whose strength and speed were enhanced. Despite these early inconsistencies, Jordan demonstrated moments of impressive durability, such as when he punched through a wall without injury and walked away from a car crash unharmed. After being possessed by Zeta-Rho and following the defeat of Tal-Rho, Jordan's powers—including his durability—improved dramatically. He was able to withstand powerful attacks from Bizarro Jonathan, a Kryptonian with superhuman strength, and suffered only minor wounds. His durability, however, still appears to be below his father’s, as it’s unclear if Jordan is fully bulletproof like Clark. Nonetheless, Jordan's resilience has continued to grow. He survived being smashed into a truck and driven through multiple walls while fighting Lana-Rho, showing little to no discomfort. Additionally, during training at the Fortress of Solitude, he was struck by lasers and didn’t feel any pain. As Jordan’s powers mature, his durability is becoming one of his strongest assets, allowing him to endure increasingly severe impacts and attacks.
- Space Survivability: Jordan Kent has developed the ability to survive in the vacuum of outer space, a remarkable extension of his Kryptonian-based powers. He demonstrated this capability when he flew into space to rescue his uncle, Tal-Rho, and successfully returned to Earth without any signs of harm. This shows that Jordan's body can endure the harsh, airless conditions of space, including extreme temperatures and lack of oxygen. His ability to perform such feats highlights the continued growth of his superhuman resilience and strength.
- Superhuman Speed: Jordan Kent has developed superhuman speed, allowing him to move faster than the human eye can perceive. After Zeta-Rho unlocked his potential, Jordan demonstrated this ability when he swiftly saved Jon and Candice from a drug dealer in an instant. His speed is so great that it creates a slow-motion effect in his surroundings, enabling him to dodge attacks like heat vision from an X-Kryptonite-enhanced user before quickly sneaking up behind them. Jordan has showcased his speed in several critical moments. He outran a collapsing cave, carrying both Jonathan and Natalie to safety. He also saved his father, Superman, by speeding him out of harm’s way when Lana-Rho attacked. In another instance, Jordan used his speed to turn Lana-Rho’s freeze vision back on Jonathan-El before it could hit him. Additionally, he caught Natalie’s kinetic hammer in mid-flight, further proving his ability to react at superhuman speeds. Jordan's speed has become a vital part of his combat and rescue skills, allowing him to outmaneuver and protect others in dangerous situations.
- Accelerated Perception: Jordan Kent has developed accelerated perception, allowing him to experience time as if it slows down around him during moments of intense danger. This power first manifested when an XK-enhanced opponent fired heat vision at him. As Jordan lowered his arms, everything around him seemed to move in slow motion, giving him the opportunity to quickly dodge the attack, reposition himself behind his opponent, and gain the upper hand. This heightened awareness and reaction speed have become key aspects of his evolving abilities, helping him react to threats with incredible precision and agility.
- Superhuman Strength: Jordan Kent possesses superhuman strength, though it hasn't yet reached the level of his father, Clark Kent, due to his limited capacity to store solar energy. However, his strength is still far beyond that of a normal human. His natural athleticism was evident on the football field, where he could easily overpower other players. During training with his father, he demonstrated his strength by embedding his fist in a wooden log. His strength has also caused accidental harm, such as when he unintentionally broke Jonathan's wrist while defending him from Jimmy Cutter. Jordan’s strength also showed in moments of anger, like when he punched through his bedroom wall after a dispute with his brother. He’s strong enough to lift Jonathan with one arm and, after Zeta-Rho unlocked his full potential, his strength grew even further. He was able to land powerful blows on his uncle, Tal-Rho, generating shockwaves with his punches. Under his grandfather Sam Lane's training, Jordan honed his abilities by punching heavy bags off their hooks and sending opponents flying with uppercuts. His strength has become even more impressive in combat. During a fight with Jonathan-El, Jordan launched him high into the air with a single knee strike. Later, he demonstrated full control of his power by knocking out Lana-Rho with the kinetic hammer. Jordan’s continued training and growth have made his superhuman strength a crucial asset in battle.
- Superhuman Breath: Jordan Kent has developed superhuman breath, including the ability to generate freezing air. His first encounter with Kryptonite triggered this power unexpectedly when he became sick and sneezed, rapidly cooling the air around him and creating ice. After the Kryptonite was purged from his body, Jordan began to gain control over his freezing breath with the help of his grandfather, Sam Lane. Sam trained him by having him freeze water mid-air as it was thrown from a bucket, helping Jordan refine his technique. Jordan later demonstrated significant mastery of this ability by freezing an entire car, showcasing the growing power and control of his freezing breath.
- Superhuman Hearing: Jordan Kent has developed superhuman hearing, giving him highly sensitive auditory senses. However, this ability has proven to be both a strength and a challenge. Everyday sounds can be overwhelming for him, often causing migraines and pain. For instance, Jordan was able to hear the snap of Jonathan’s bones when he accidentally broke his wrist. Jor-El’s hologram explained that Jordan's enhanced mechanosensory perception caused an allodynic response—making all sounds painful until he could learn to control and filter them through practice. With training and focus, Jordan began making progress. He was able to briefly tune in on the voices of Sarah and Jonathan, although he lost concentration when he overheard them bonding, which distracted and upset him. Over time, his control improved significantly. Jordan successfully used his super hearing to locate his father, Clark, from miles away. On another occasion, he extended his hearing across continents, briefly picking up sounds from Australia or New Zealand before ultimately hearing his father's shout from the Badlands. Jordan’s ability to detect distant conversations has also been demonstrated in more subtle ways, such as when he overheard a private discussion between his father and Lana Lang Cushing, leaving Sarah puzzled. His grandfather Sam Lane even remarked that Jordan’s super hearing makes him more effective than a satellite, highlighting the incredible potential of this power.
- Heat-vision: Jordan Kent has developed the ability to project intense beams of heat from his eyes. His heat vision first emerged during a moment of extreme emotional stress, triggered when he was overwhelmed by being bullied and witnessing his brother Jonathan get beaten by Sarah’s ex-boyfriend. Since then, Jordan has gained greater control over this power, using it effectively during battles with his paternal uncle, Tal-Rho. He demonstrated ease in activating his heat vision during their second confrontation. With the guidance of his grandfather, Sam Lane, Jordan trained to refine his accuracy and precision. His exercises included targeting tin cans and later lighting multiple candles without melting them. His training paid off, as Jordan became capable of cutting through solid rock with ease. His control and skill were further demonstrated in combat when he precisely used his heat vision to intercept and neutralize Jonathan-El’s freeze vision mid-attack. Jordan's mastery of heat vision has become a key element of his ever-growing superhuman abilities.
- X-Ray Vision: Jordan Kent has developed X-ray vision, which first manifested during a moment of intense anxiety when his mother underwent surgery. His panic attack triggered the ability, allowing him to see through walls in the hospital, including the skeletons of other patients and staff. As he continued to grow into his powers, Jordan's X-ray vision became more refined. He gained the ability to perceive infrared heat signatures, which helped him locate his grandfather, Sam Lane, who was buried deep underground. He later used this ability strategically to spot armed guards inside cargo containers, giving him the upper hand by allowing him to plan a stealth attack. Jordan's X-ray vision has become an essential tool for both rescue and combat, providing him with heightened awareness of his surroundings.
Abilities
- Expert Hand-to-hand Combantant: To be added
- Skilled Pianist: To be added
Weaknesses
- Green Kryptonite: Green Kryptonite not only physically hurts Jordan, but also it weakens his physical attributes; making his resilience equivalent to that; of a normal human, but if he is exposed to enough Green Kryptonite for too long, it will eventually kill him. But despite being weaker than his father, he has a considerably higher resilience to Green Kryptonite. It is speculated to be because of his Human-half deluding the effects on his half-Kryptonian.
- Noise: When Jordan's enhanced hearing came in, loud noises were difficult for Jordan. This includes the simple closing of a locker and the bell ringing. Because of this, Jordan wore special headphones that canceled out sound. However, Jordan has gotten more control of his powers after being host to Zeta-Rho.
- Red solar energy: Jordan is powerless under the radiation of a red sun.
- Social anxiety disorder: Jordan was diagnosed with a personal anxiety disorder when he was a child and has been taking benzodiazepines as medication and going to therapy. However, this has toned down after Jordan gained powers, becoming Sarah's boyfriend and bonding with his parents and brother
