Jolteon is a Generation I Electric-Type Pokémon and one of the eight evolutions of Eevee. It evolves from Eevee by using a Thunder Stone.
Appearance
Jolteon is a bright yellow quadrupedal, mammalian, feliform Pokémon with spiky fur. It has rhomboid ears, spikes on his head, white spiky mane around its neck, bright yellow spiny fringe of fur covering its backside and deep purple (or black) almond-shaped eyes.
Personality
Jolteon are quite sensitive and temperamental, which can make them constantly charge as they quickly change moods. This means Pokémon Trainers will find it difficult to tame them, until their trainers earn their trust. However, this is not always the case, as seen in the anime, specifically "Eevee & Friends" and Bernice, some Jolteon can be quite friendly or even affectionate.
Natural Abilities
Jolteon are capable of gathering negative ions from the atmosphere, using the resulting electricity to create lightning bolts of up to 10,000 volts. Their individual cells can also create small electrical charges on their own, which combined with the static electricity caused by their bodies can result in powerful Electric-type attacks. They can also make lightnings and cause small thunderstorms.
When threatened or angered, their fur stands on their ends and becomes sharp bristles, and they will fire these electrified needles from their bodies. When they exhale, little sparks form in their mouths due to their internal electricity.
Trivia
- The Japanese name of Jolteon is similar to that of Zapdos.
- Jolteon has the highest speed stat out of all the Eeveelutions.
- Jolteon has the longest muzzle among all the Eeveelutions. In some cases, however, specifically official artwork and Pokémon the Series, when viewed from the front, it appears identical to all other Eeveelutions.
- Jolteon is the only one of Eevee's evolved forms that doesn't appear to have a visible tail (though it does have a small hare-like spike similar to a hare's tail, beneath the fringe of spiky fur on its backside).
- Despite this, it can still learn Iron Tail.
- In Pokémon Yellow Special Pikachu Edition, as Blue, the player's rival, uses Eevee as his first partner Pokémon, it is possible for him to evolve it into any of the three available evolutions at the time. In the case of Jolteon, if the player wins both the Prof. Oak's laboratory and optional Route 22 battles, Eevee will become this Eeveelution.
- However in the remakes, Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee, Trace always evolves his Eevee into Jolteon.
