Gilligan is the title character in the 1960s CBS sitcom Gilligan's Island, portrayed by the late Bob Denver.
History
Gilligan, along with six others, were marooned on a deserted island when the SS Minnow was shipwrecked. Gilligan is noted for his stupidity and clumsiness. Whenever the other castaways come up with a plan to get off the island, he is the one to screw it up. Despite this, he has a pure heart and is easily forgiven by his friends. On some occasions Gilligan has actually been the one to save the castaways from some danger that befalls them. He is best friends with his employer Jonas "Skipper" Grumby, who serves as a second father to him.
