~ Eric to Kitty. |
Eric Albert Forman (born March 5, 1960) is a fictional character and the main protagonist of Fox Network's That '70s Show, portrayed by Topher Grace. Eric also appears in the sequel That '90s Show as the father of the main protagonist Leia Forman. Eric is based on the adolescence of show creator Mark Brazill. Most of the show takes place at the Formans' home, particularly in the basement, where he and his five friends hang out.
He was portrayed by Topher Grace.
Description
Eric Forman is an high school boy who resides in Point Place, Wisconsin and son of Red and Kitty Forman. He is a sci-fi geek but has a wild streak in him that emerges from time to time. Towards the end of the series, he moves to Africa for a year to teach in order to further his career.
During the series finale, Eric and Donna reunited and got back together. Years later, they got married, and had their daughter Leia, named after Princess Leia from "Star Wars".
Background
Eric grew up in Point Place, Wis., as the youngest child in the Forman family. Eric is not exactly the son that his military veteran father always dreamt of: he’s small, unathletic and weak. As a result, Eric is prone to making mistakes that ignite his father’s temper.
Personality
A nice guy at heart, Eric is generally geeky, physically weak and somewhat clumsy. He is not athletic and shows little interest in sports. He is a smart-aleck teenager with a lightning-fast wit and a sarcastic and deadpan sense of humor. He also lights "incense" with his friends in his basement. Eric is also known to screw things up a lot, which is parodied throughout the series. Likewise, Eric is the centerpiece of his friendship group. He’s always willing to support his friends in whatever they do, even though they often set him up to be the butt of their jokes.
Trivia
- Eric appeared in 179 episodes.
- Eric's birthday is constantly inconsistent in the series.
- He has a tattoo of Woodstock from the Peanuts done by Leo in "Eric's Drunken Tattoo".
- Eric is afraid of rats and spiders, as shown in "The Best Christmas Ever" and "Young Man Blues".
- Eric is also a fan of Marvel's Spider-Man, and his actor (Topher Grace) would play Eddie Brock/Venom in Spider-Man 3.
