Darry Adai is a supporting protagonist in the anime series Gurren Lagann. She is Gimmy Adai’s younger twin sister and like him, she first appears as a child from Adai Village who follows Rossiu to the surface after her exile and accompanies Team Dai-Gurren mostly as a comic relief. She becomes a much more prominent character after the timeskip when she acts as a Grapearl pilot.
She is voiced by Shizuka Itō in the Japanese version (who also voiced Boota from the same series, Akiha Tohno from Tsukihime and female Byleth from Fire Emblem) and Mela Lee in the English version.
Appearance
Before the timeskip, Darry is a little girl with long pink hair, two bangs around her face, round blushing cheeks and blue eyes. She looks sleepier and less enthusiastic than her brother, Gimmy.
After the timeskip, she is a teenager of average height with longer bangs, a thinner face and a red and white uniform. Her cheeks have also lost their blush.
Personality
Darry is not very talkative, neither as a child nor as a teenager. Before the timeskip, she is shy and remains in the background, mostly following her brother when he does his shenanigans. She seems to be attached to her plush doll as she is always seen holding it.
As a Grapearl pilot however, she is much more confident and often scolds Gimmy when he is not careful enough. She bursts into tears when Jorgun and Balinbow sacrifice themselves to save her brother and her, and she looks depressed when Kittan decides to face the Anti-Spiral’s army like his fallen comrades before him, showing her attachment to Team Dai-Gurren. She is overall very brave and puts a lot of thought into her battles.

- Darry's name is derived from the Japanese word hidari (左), meaning left (as opposed to right).
