"Sir" Edmund Chummery, better known as Chum Chum, is one of the two titular main protagonists (alongside Fanboy) of Nickelodeon's animated TV series of the same name. He is Fanboy's best friend and sidekick.
He is voiced by Nika Futterman, who also voiced Sticks the Badger from Sonic Boom and Luna Loud from The Loud House series.
Background
His family comes from the country of Chulkistan, all of his relatives such as "Chuncle" Joe and his cousin Muk Muk are Chulks just like him. Chum Chum currently lives and has lots of fun as a roommate with Fanboy.
Appearance
Chum Chum is short and chubby. He has peachy skin, brown hair, a black mask, two buck teeth with a gap, an orange shirt with yellow sleeves, yellow pants with his underpants on the outside, black gloves, black sneakers with a yellow cape on the back.
Personality
Chum Chum is extremely energetic, high-spirited, and possesses an indomitable enthusiasm and childlike jocularity.
As Fanboy's best friend, Chum Chum is naïve and always full of fun. Yo likes him, because he is 'Adorable', 'Cute', And 'Chum Chummy'. Fanboy doesn't like this, and always defends Chum Chum from Yo's attempts to kidnap him.
In comparison to Fanboy, Chum Chum is usually the more sweet, mellow and "less intense" of the two, though he still is hyperactive in his own right.
Chum Chum is always smarter than Fanboy, and points out the stronger thing than what he said. Despite being the smarter one of the two, he can be very gullible and forgetful at times.
He is also loyal and will always stand up for Fanboy no matter what.
He is typically the better behaved of the two, though is still fun, and still can get into trouble at times.
Trivia
- Speculation: Because of his socially naïve and eccentric behavior and poor social skills has led to a fan theory that he might be autistic/neurodivergent. His hyper behavior and often being quite forgetful also might possibly be a sign that he has ADHD (Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder)
- Chum Chum is the smallest kid (size-wise) in the 5th grade class in the series. In the pilot short he seemed to be taller and wider than he was in the show.
- He has a squeaky voice.
- His real name is most likely Sir Edmund Chummery, though likely minus the "sir" part.
- In "Lord of the Rings", it was revealed that his favorite snack is crumpets and a spot of tea.
- The only time he had no lines was in "Head Suckage" teaser short (he did have only one in another teaser short, "Yo Won't Go".)
- He dressed like a werewolf for Halloween ("There Will Be Shrieks").
- His first dialogue voice-singing role was in "Dollar Day" when he performed the Dollar Dance with Fanboy. His first cameo singing voice-singing role was in "Cold War" when he played in the rain, and his first true singing voice-singing role was in "Separation Anxiety", when he sang a song about his relationship with Fanboy.
- In "Fangboy", it reveals that Chum Chum doesn't have a neck due to his size.
- He doesn't like the detached finger trick, as he fainted after seeing Fanboy do it ("Wizboy").
- Chum Chum is the second main character to have a family member mentioned. Fanboy was the first. Chum Chum's cousin, Muk Muk, is also introduced in the episode Moppy Dearest.
