Bunston

Bunston is the deuteragonist of The Legendary Starfy.

Appearance

Bunston is a blue rabbit-like creature who wears a red spacesuit with a green helmet, orange jet pack, and red eyes and is a prince like Starfy.

Biography

At the beginning of the game, Starfy wakes up to find Bunston who fell from the sky through the palace's roof. As The Terrible Trio fails to capture Bunston, Starfy searches for him after escaping and goes into the ocean with Moe.

After Starfy attacks the giant octopus, he recovers a crystal shard, and his head starts to hurt as he remembers a memory of escaping from Planet Bunnera. He attacks two Swabbies before getting attacked by a group of three of them and falling into his ship. Bunston hits a button that sends the ship flying away towards Pufftop. Mashtooth orders his minions to get him and bring Bunston to him. Bunston then introduces himself and is revealed to be an amnesiac.

Later, Starfy and Bunston combine two Shards. Moe is surprised at how they seemed to glue themselves together and says they best hurry up to find the other Shards and tells Starfy that they are going to Hotcha Springs. They set off in search of Old Man Lobber.

The Bunneran Soldiers find out that there are intruders in the Bunnera Castle and one of them urges the others to 'sound the alarm'. The Bunneran Soldiers are under attack by Mashtooth and many Swabbies, so the Bunneran Soldiers tell Bunston to run and get to safety. He refuses, saying that he's no coward, but one of the Bunneran Soldiers loudly insists as he runs away.

When soaking in the victory, Bunston finds out that Starfy was a prince like him. He agreed with Moe that Starfy was more of a royal slacker which shocked him.

Later, Bunston remembered that The Terrible Trio told him to quit hiding. Two Swabbies ask where he is, and Bunston is exhausted from hiding. The Terrible Trio then finds Bunston, shocking him.

When Starfy chilled out, Moe and Bunston had a conversation about what was happening to Bunnera to which he replies he doesn't know, but he can feel it was something terrible. Meanwhile, Starfy is playing around with King Ping's belly button to which Moe tells Starfy 'to have fun poking around' while he and Bunston are thinking. King Ping blinks and wakes up. He rudely drop-kicks Starfy, Moe, and Bunston through the air towards Sogwood Forest.

When we revealed that The Terrible Trio are making another attempt to kidnap Bunston, Starfy, Moe, and Bunston decide to chase them for a while. We also learned that Bunston's spaceship is hit, making it fall quickly from space. The Terrible Trio fires two beams at Bunston's spaceship from their spaceship, causing Bunston's spaceship to be destroyed and smashed into seven parts. Bunston then falls from the air towards Pufftop Palace and that was how the story began.

Starfy, Moe, and Bunston fly out of a mine cart towards the ocean when Bunston remembers about his spaceship and how The Terrible Trio shot him down towards Pufftop Palace. Bunston is then convinced that the Shards are pieces of his ship. Bunston says that they have to find all the shards and fix his ship so he can save his people. Starfy, Moe, and Bunston fall towards Skydye Heights.

Later, we learn that Prince Bunston was born on this planet like all Bunnerans. Bunston's father, the king of Bunnera had a vision that one day Bunston would use the special powers he was born with to protect the Bunnerans.

As Bunston thanks Starfy and Moe for everything, he planned to stop Mashtooth. He wished there was a way to thank them, but says that he has to go to save his people. Moe tells Bunston not to abandon him because they're pals and that he can't take on Mashtooth solo, so insists that he and Starfy go with him. Moe said that Starfy and he have been "clobbering knuckleheads for a long time" and suggests that they wouldn't be good friends to Bunston if they just left him to fight Mashtooth on his own. Bunston is happily surprised that Starfy and Moe think of him as his friend and burst into tears. Bunston thanks Starfy and Moe and gives them a big hug.

After Starfy defeated Mashtooth, the stolen powers from the Bunnerans begin to fall from the sky and return to Bunston and the Bunnerans. The fallen Bunneran Soldiers happily stand up again and they gather around Bunston, cheering for him, proud of the young prince.

Starfy catches Moe's eyes as he falls from the sky, so Moe jumps up to catch him on top of his clam. He is badly hurt however from the battle with Mega Mashtooth. Many people crowd around Starfy, worrying for him and Moe asks if he is OK. A Bunneran Soldier asks who Starfy is, and Bunston replies, telling the Bunnerans of his great adventure and how Starfy helped him in a strange language. They reply, "Wow! So this is the Prince Starfy? We've heard so much about him!" Starfy is hurting from the battle and the Bunnerans reply "We have to help him, fast!" Two Bunnerans use their powers to transform into butterflies and heal Starfy's injuries. The Terrible Trio appears and says "It's them! Haven't you done enough?" A Bunneran Soldier then says "Prince Bunston! Now's our chance!" and they seek payback from The Terrible Trio. One of the Bunneran Soldiers shoots The Terrible Trio with his gun and Moe says "HOLD IT!" He explains that The Terrible Trio aren't exactly "good eggs", but if it wasn't for their help, they would be nothing but snacks in Mega Mashtooth's belly. He urges the Bunneran Soldiers to find a place in their hurt to forgive them, as they know they messed up. The Terrible Trio then say, "we're sorry! we messed up." but Moe says he isn't going to let 'them off the hook' for all the trouble they caused that easily and Moe has the idea of The Terrible Trio beating Starfy in a game of rock-paper-scissors and The Terrible Trio agree to play.

Abilities

Although in the game, Bunston can't be controlled alone without Starfy. In certain rooms, he appears with a thought bubble above his head. Inside the thought bubble is a small image of a dragon (called "Monstar"), a seal (called "Starpedo"), a ghost (called "Starfright"), or a rooster (called "Roostar"). If Starfy touches this thought bubble, he morphs with Bunston to gain the ability pictured. These abilities are all unique: Monstar's ability allows Starfy to breathe fire (Spicy Belly); Starpedo's ability freezes, then breaks gooey-ice in arctic regions using a giant icicle (Icy Spike), making them passable; Roostar's ability provides Starfy to be able to make loud Bugawks that can also be used to use Liftwisps and make Stanglers and Lurchins not damaging anymore, making them as temporary platforms, and lay chicken eggs (Bugawk); Starfright's ability lets Starfy drop "will-o-wisp"s (ghostly fires) around foes, make him disappear for a while, and make him float around (Vanish).

Upgrades

In the last Secret levels of certain Worlds, there will be extra Gems for the forms, making them more powerful. Then, that ability will be later used in that level for an example.
