History
Clone Wars
Utilizing his espionage skills acquired while working for Republic Intelligence, Bode managed to avoid detection during the Jedi Purge following Order 66. He went into hiding and found love with Tayala on the planet Birren, where they started a family with their daughter Kata Akuna. Despite the Inquisitorius eventually finding them, Tayala made a selfless sacrifice to allow Bode and Kata to escape. Realizing he couldn’t hide forever, Bode sought out Denvik, a supervisor in the Imperial Security Bureau, offering to work as a covert operative to ensure Kata’s safety and uncover the truth behind his wife’s death. In 9 BBY, Bode went undercover as a member of the Stinger Mantis crew to spy on Jedi Cal Kestis. Despite initial doubts from Denvik about Bode’s abilities, he successfully maintained his cover and assisted in retrieving crucial information from Senator Daho Sejan’s yacht on Coruscant. Disguised as a Coruscant Police officer, Bode played a key role in capturing Kestis and delivering him to Sejan. During a confrontation on the yacht, Bode and Kestis defeated a security droid before apprehending Sejan and obtaining vital intelligence on the Empire’s expansion. The mission took a tragic turn when the crew was ambushed by Imperial forces, resulting in casualties including Gabs, Koob, and Lizz. Bode and Bravo bravely fought back, ultimately crashing the yacht into the enemy forces to aid Kestis in his escape. As they attempted to flee, Bode sacrificed himself to distract pursuing TIE fighters, allowing Kestis to make his getaway while Bravo was tragically shot down.
Imperial Era
After informing Denvik about the fate of the rest of the Mantis crew, Bode reassured him that Kestis remained unaware of his true identity due to his mastery of disguise. Seeking Kestis, Bode traveled to Pyloon’s Saloon on the Outer Rim planet Koboh. Despite initial suspicions from Greez Dritus and M-6NK, Kestis arrived and clarified the situation. Together with Greez and Monk, they encountered ZN-A4 “Zee,” who mentioned the legendary planet Tanalorr beyond the Koboh Abyss. As Kestis ventured to activate the Forest Array in the Basalt Forest, Monk repaired Zee while Bode assisted Dritus in fixing the Mantis before the Bedlam Raiders could seize it. Impressed by the ship’s appearance, Bode expressed his intention to ride it until it could no longer function. Upon Kestis’s return to the saloon, he shared information about Dagan Gera and confirmed the existence of Tanalorr. Bode decided to accompany Kestis on the journey to Jedha to locate Jedi Master Cere Junda, emphasizing the importance of pursuing leads promptly. Aware of Junda’s presence on Koboh, Bode informed Denvik but withheld her exact location to maintain leverage. He cautioned against sending Imperial forces to Koboh to avoid jeopardizing the mission.
Returning to the Shattered Moon with Cal, Merrin, and Greez, Bode assisted in a mission to locate Rayvis. While Cal confronted the Gen’Dai, Bode and the crew battled Vulture droids aboard the Mantis. After Cal’s successful encounter with Rayvis, they discovered that Dagan Gera was at Santari Khri’s observatory on Koboh in search of the final compass. As Cal ascended the observatory, Bode provided air support in his ship, engaging in a chaotic battle between Bedlam Raiders and Imperial forces. Reuniting with Cal, Bode aided in confronting Gera’s lieutenants and ultimately faced Gera himself. In a fierce duel, Bode assisted Cal in defeating Gera, though he was briefly incapacitated during the fight. As Cal dealt the final blow to Gera, Bode retrieved the damaged final compass. Secretly deciding to keep Gera’s lightsaber for himself, Bode contemplated his next move, considering a potential betrayal of his friend to the Empire.
After fleeing to the ISB listening post in the Nova Garon system with the intention of escaping to Tanalorr with his daughter, Kata, Akuna devised a plan to lure Kestis back to the base by keeping his locator beacon active. His goal was to use Kestis’ presence to attract the Inquisitorius to eliminate Denvik and safeguard his hidden past. Upon discovering Kestis at the base, disguised as Denvik and aided by the Force, Akuna introduced him to Kata as his best friend, aiming to deceive the former Jedi. In a tense confrontation, Akuna revealed his past involvement with Republic Intelligence during the Clone Wars, his tragic relationship with Tayala, and his under-the-table deal with Denvik. Expressing his frustration with Kestis’ choices and the Hidden Path’s mission, Akuna faced criticism from Cal for his perceived selfishness. Despite Bode’s attempts to defend Akuna as a father, tensions escalated as Kestis accused Akuna of betrayal, leading to a Force-fueled altercation and Akuna’s escape with Kata on his ship, carrying the only functional Abyss compass. Arriving on Tanalorr, Akuna and Kata sought refuge in the hidden Jedi Temple, unaware of Kestis’ discovery of a message revealing an alternate entrance to the planet. As Kestis, Merrin, and their allies navigated the Koboh Abyss to reach Tanalorr, they confronted Akuna in the temple. In a desperate attempt to protect his daughter from the Empire, Akuna confronted Kestis and Merrin, resorting to violence to keep Kata safe. Engaging in a fierce duel, Akuna used his strength and the Force to challenge Kestis, leading to a climactic showdown where dark secrets and conflicting loyalties came to light.
Ultimately, Kestis overpowered Akuna, who faced a moment of reckoning as he grappled with the consequences of his actions. Despite a brief moment of surrender, Akuna’s true intentions emerged, resulting in a tragic confrontation that culminated in his demise at the hands of Kestis. Honored with a funeral pyre alongside fallen Jedi Masters Junda and Cordova, Akuna’s legacy was marked by the complexities of his choices and the impact of his decisions on those he cared about, leaving behind a legacy of sacrifice and redemption.
