Bob Johnson is a music teacher who lives on Sesame Street. He was introduced in the premiere episode of Sesame Street. His many songs on the show include "The People in Your Neighborhood", "Believe in Yourself", and "I've Got Two". An affable and low-key fellow, Bob was introduced as Gordon and Susan's neighbor.
He is played by the late Bob McGrath.
Description
Bob is an unassuming, low-key music teacher who lives in the apartment above Hooper's Store. He used to be a shop teacher, before he became a music teacher.
Personality
Arguably more than any of the other adult cast members, Bob is at his warmest and most affectionate with the kids, both on- and off-camera. He is perhaps the most gentlest and sweetest person of the show's male adults during the Classic era.
Sesame Street Presents: Follow that Bird
Bob watches Big Bird leaves Sesame Street to live with the Dodos by Miss Finch who thinks one of his kinds. He listen Maria reading Big Bird's letter while he was staying with the Dodos. Later that night Bob was in his store with Olivia and Grover, when he sess in the news that Big Bird has left the Dodos to return back to Sesame Street with Miss Finch insisting to bring him back there.
The next day, Bob instructs a plan to bring Big Bird back to Sesame Street. Gordon, Olivia, Linda and Cookie Monster are assign in the Volkswagen, while Oscar, Maria, Telly and Honker in the Sloppy Jalopy and Count Von Count is assign on his own Count mobile. He then instructs them get to Toadstool where they will meet up Big Bird and watch out for Miss Finch. As the Journey to find Big Bird starts, Bob and everyone bid goodbye to Gordon, Olivia, Linda, Cookie Monster, Oscar, Maria, Telly, Honker, Grover, Ernie and Bert, Bob went back inside the store with a kid looking at the map where Big Bird is.
During the One Little Star song that night, Bob was shown putting a trash on a trash can, bidding Barkley goodnight and walks back inside.
Sometime later, after Big Bird escaped Miss Finch at Ruthie's farm, where he spent there for the night and getting captured by 2 con artist The Sleaze Brothers who run a carnival called The Sleaze Brothers' Fun Fair in the outskirts of Toadstool, Bob was contacted by 2 kids who had found Big Bird and informing him that the Sleaze Brothers locked him on a cage and painted him blue. Maria and the others are in the gas station fueling their cars and calls him informing them that he already located Big Bird, much to their shock.
The next day they find him and ready to free him. However The Sleaze Brothers sees this and tries to escaped them with Big Bird in an attempt to prevent them from bringing the latter back to Sesame Street. But Gordon and Olivia use the Volkswagen to chase them and rescue him successfully.
When Big Bird is finally back home in Sesame Street, with The Sleaze Brothers arrested for their crimes and kidnapping Big Bird, Bob and everyone in Sesame Street (except Gordon, Olivia, Linda, Cookie Monster and Grover still on the way due to the Volkswagen being consume by Cookie Monster) was happy to see him with him asking Maria where Gordon and the others are and she replies that they are on the way and having a car trouble. Then Big Bird explains them about his trip and stayed at Ruthie's farm, just as Miss Finch (having trailed him from Toadstool) arrives, much to his shock. Miss Finch admits to him that the Dodos are not perfect for him, but has found him another bird family, causing Bob, Maria, Luis and everyone on Sesame Street including Elmo to object this. Miss Finch then realizes how far his friends went to bring him back and declares that Sesame Street is his home and leaves satisfied not long apologizing him for chasing him back at Ruthie's farm and Toadstool. Shortly after Big Bird went back to his nest where, he tearfully reunites with Mr. Snuffleupagus who was been watching his nest during his way back to Sesame Street, Bob is shocked to see the Volkswagen totally consumed by Cookie Monster and shows it to Susan much to her shock.
