Aya Koda is a supporting character from the anime and manga Bungo Stray Dogs. She is a young girl who helped Doppo Kunikida prevent Shosaku Katsura from detonating a bomb at the train station during the Guild Aftermath arc. Currently, she is helping the Armed Detective Agency by escaping with Bram Stoker from Ochi Fukuchi, also known as Kamui.
She is voiced by Minako Kotobuki in the Japanese version, and by Cassandra Lee Morris in the English verison of the anime.
Appearance
Aya is a 10 year-old girl with blue-grey eyes and short red hair and hairpins on both sides of her hair. Her outfit includes a tan duffel coat with off-center fastenings, yellow pleated dress, violet tights, and pink shoes.
Personality
Despite being abused by her strict father after the death of her mother and sister, Aya is a highly-spirited girl who believes that she is a warrior of justice and practices martial arts every day. Given that she is too young to go past the safety zone, she is also wayward, refusing to take no for an answer whenever there is trouble such as the train bomb setting up by Katsura. In addition, Aya is quite intelligent for her young age, being able to determine that Ochi Fukuchi is responsible for conspiracy on the Armed Detective Agency, as well as starting the vampire infection outbreak via Bram Stoker. Upon the latest incident at the airport, Aya is more than willing to find a way to extract Bram, prove everyone wrong about the Detective Agency, and expose Fukuchi as the true mastermind.
Background
As a child, Aya grew up with an ordinary family, including her parents and sister. However, her mother and sister died at a young age, which led to being the only daughter raised by her father. Since then, her strict father keeps comparing Aya to her late mother and sister and consider her a "failure of a woman." To build her graceful conduct, he made her study karate.
Trivia
- While trying to find a way to escape with Bram at the airport, Aya once stated that she is the fastest runner in her class.
- She speaks in Kansai dialect.
- She is named after a Japanese author, who was famous for her work Nagareru in 1955.
- According to Bram, Aya reminded him of his daughter, which happened to exactly resemble her (except the eye color).
