Angela Balzac is the main protagonist of the 2014 anime movie Expelled from Paradise. She is a citizen of the digital paradise 'Deva' and an agent for Central Security, where she holds the rank of Third Officer. Sent to Earth to track down a mysterious hacker named "Frontier Setter", Angela teams up with Dingo, an informant for Central Security and one of the last humans who still live on Earth.
She is voiced by Rie Kugimiya in the Japanese version and Wendee Lee in the English version, the former of whom also voices Alphonse Elric, Shana and Airi Yukifune.
Appearance
Before going to Earth, Angela had the appearance of a tall woman in her mid-to-late twenties. When sent to Earth, however, she takes on the appearance of a 16-year-old girl due to speeding up the process so she could go to Earth sooner. She is quite short, standing almost two feet shorter than Dingo, with blue eyes, somewhat pale skin and extremely long blonde hair that she keeps tied in twin tails with light-green star-shaped braids.
Her Deva uniform consists of a black-and-white leotard jumpsuit that leaves her thighs and much of her rear end exposed, along with two matching boots on her feet. When exploring the city of Jitta, she also wears a poncho given to her by Dingo.
Personality
Initially, Angela is a very aloof and standoffish person who prefers to work alone, going to far as to put herself into a teenage body simply so she could be ahead of her fellow agents. She doesn't know when to give up, going so far as to simply endure a cold when she catches one rather than ask for any help from Deva. She also dislikes the idea of sending a distress call, saying that returning to Deva in that fashion would be an utter disgrace. She seems to get a kick out of fighting, seeing a group of thugs harassing her as a great way to "blow off some steam."
Angela initially doesn't think very much of the people who still live on Earth, describing them as "the old generation destined for extinction" and those who live in Deva as the next generation for mankind. However, she is very polite in her criticism and never looks down on Dingo, though she does find him extremely odd and difficult to work with, largely due to his taste in music. Eventually, however, she grows to deeply respect Dingo; when she believes her mission to be a success, she admits to Dingo that he contributed to the mission just as much as she did, and she couldn't have done it without him.
