Ace Apex

Ace Apex is a minor antagonist in Fleeing the Complex, who appears only in "Convict Allies" as a supporting antagonist.

Ace Apex is a guard that works at The Wall. Along with Joe Joshin and Melvin Poolridge, Ace corners Henry Stickmin and Ellie Rose in the hallway after the two have freed all the prisoners. To defeat them, Henry and Ellie will need to cooperate using different weapons:

• Grenade + Crossbow - Henry throws out a grenade while Ellie shoots it with an arrow, and Ace takes the hit to the face, saying, "Ow!" when he gets hit. Ace realizes much to his dismay that his time is limited; this causes him to instigate a kamikaze attack where he jumps towards both convicts to take them down alongside him, causing the message "If he goes down, he's taking you with him!" to pop up.
• Sniper Rifle + Crossbow - Henry jumps and tries to jump and shoot Ace Apex and the others in a single move, but ends up shooting Ellie instead. This triggers a clickable death message that leads, "Let's see that on instant replay!" If the instant replay is clicked, Ace Apex can be seen with 8-bit sunglasses during the MLG sequence.
• Grenade + Taser - Henry throws a grenade electrized by Ellie, but the combination of both creates a huge explosion that kills Ace Apex and everyone on the room with him. The death message is an equation that shows that electricity and grenades combine to make crazy explosions.
• Sniper Rifle + Taser - Ellie tasers Henry, who in an electrocuted state shoots Ace and his allies, likely causing their demise. With the path clear, Ellie and Henry proceed their way.

Appearance

Ace Apex is a stick figure wearing a formal wall guard cap and brown shoes. In Instant Replay, he is edited, seen sporting memetic accessories consisting of pixelated sunglasses, and a cigarette, being a reference to the meme, Thug Life.

Quotes

• "Hold it right there, inmates!" -- After he spots Henry and Ellie trying to get away.
• "Ow. Uh oh... Neverrrr!" -- If Henry chooses a grenade and Ellie chooses a crossbow. Ace realises that his seconds are numbered during this scene, driving him into a kamikaze attack.

• "fite me m9 ill rek u" (Translation: "Fight me mate. I'll wreck you." (m9 is a play on m8, short for "mate")
