"Yo. I've heard about your harem. I'm in."
~~~Zdrada, The Bitch Demon
Zdrada is the fifth demon encountered in Helltaker. She is referred to as "The Bitch Demon".
Appearance
Zdrada, like most of the Helltaker cast, is depicted as a short demon girl with pale skin, red irises, a black arrow-tipped tail, and silvery-white hair. It's quite short and most of it covers her left eye. Poking out of her hair are two small black horns that are rounded inwards. She has black eye shadow along with piercings on her mouth, ears and nose. She wears an arm brace on her right hand and a wrist cuff on her left hand, possibly hiding her masochistic scars. In addition to her white cross necklace, which is a clear reference to her name, she also wears a black choker. Her base attire consists of a red short-sleeved dress shirt, black leather pants held up with a belt, and black, knee-length heeled boots.
In "Just a Short Comic About Glasses", she temporarily wears a pair of black glasses with translucent white lenses, since she lost her contact lenses.
Personality
Zdrada is shown to be a mean-spirited smoker and rarely ever cares for anything, and is very flippant as her label implies. She dislikes solving problems, nerdy puzzles and Malina's video games. She seems to always be smoking, and she doesn't care even if it's breaking the rules. She is shown to be sadomasochistic as well, as she finds pleasure in watching other people, including herself, in pain and despair, and doesn't care of what she has said. Her self-afflicted sadomasochism is shown with the cross she wears. Due to it being a holy symbol, it constantly burns her skin. She also loves to irritate and pester her younger sister, Malina, and calls her "Malinka" (diminutive of her name in Polish, meaning "Little Berry") instead of her real name. She is rather straightforward, and tells the player that they can go kill themselves on some spikes if they don't want to solve the puzzles in Level 6.
Encounter
When Helltaker first encounters Zdrada at the end of level 5, she introduces herself by talking about the player's harem and saying immediately she is joining it. The player is given two options to respond with:
- "Wait. I have a feeling I'll regret it."
- "It's not really a harem anymore. We just play turn based strategies."
If the player picks the first option, she tells the player she will be coming anyway and how Helltaker is free to try and stop her. A smoke cloud comes out of her mouth as she giggles. She joins the party and the player receives a "SUCCESS" prompt, advancing on to Level 6.
If the player picks the second option, Zdrada puts you out of your misery by killing you. The player is given a "Bad End" screen, which says "Your vision swam. The last thing you noticed was a knife buried hilt deep between your ribs."
Life Advice
Zdrada will answer to life advice in Chapter VI.
Zdrada: "Don't look at me for puzzle hints. I'm not a nerd. Maybe go kill yourself on some spikes. It'll be amusing."
Malina: "My sister's always like that. I can't believe you invited her..."
Zdrada: "Yeah. What were you thinking, man? Glad you invited Malina, though. She spends too much time, all alone, playing most nerdy video games I've ever seen."
Malina: "Can you please shut up?"
Zdrada: "Do you know how turned on she gets while playing them? That one time when she..."
Malina: "Kill one of us. Me or her. Please. Fast."
The player is given two options to respond with:
- *Kill them both*
- *Kill yourself*
If the player picks the first option, Pandemonica will urge Helltaker to just leave them be. If the player picks the second option, Helltaker will follow Zdrada's advice and impale himself on some spikes despite Pandemonica trying to stop him. Doing this will also grant you the Lifetaker achievement.
Trivia
- The name "Zdrada" directly translated from Polish means "treason" or "betrayal", fitting with her and her sister being of Slavic roots as well as the cross on her necklace.
- According to "Just a Short Comic About Glasses", Zdrada wears contact lenses.[1]
- As shown in "Another Short Comic About Angels", the cross Zdrada wears constantly burns her, leaving a scar where it usually sits.[2]
