"Is this all real? Or has this been happening inside my head?"
The topic of this article is of a real-life subject that has been mentioned "in-universe" in a canon source. - "Amateur footage has not yielded any likely suspects. Anji Oliver, of Ilford, Essex filmed the devastation on her mobile phone."
- — Jamie Wolpert, "Bridge disaster hits London" in The Guardian (July, 1996).[src]
Ilford is a town located in the county of Essex in England.[1] Anji Oliver, a Muggle who witnessed the Millennium Bridge disaster in 1996 and was interviewed by The Guardian, lived there.
Behind the scenes
- In reality, the town of Ilford currently belongs to the county of Greater London, but was a part of Essex until the Municipal Borough of Ilford was abolished and incorporated into Greater London in 1965.[2] This makes the mention of an "Ilford, Essex" in a prop copy of the The Guardian created for the Half-Blood Prince film an anachronism, since the scene that the paper is featured in is set in 1996, based on the canonical timeline. However, it is possible Ilford was never made a part of Greater London in the Harry Potter universe, leaving it in Essex.
- Maggie Smith, who played Minerva McGonagall in all eight Harry Potter films, was born in Ilford.
