Armoury

" […] a long gallery full of suits of armour."
— Description[src]

The Armoury[2] (also known as the Armour Gallery)[3] was a corridor adjacent to the Trophy Room which contained suits of armour on exhibit.[1]

History

19th century

During the 1890–1891 school year, there were several suits of armour belonging to non-human being on display. These included unique suits of armour for a centaur, a house-elf, and a troll. There were also several suits of equestrian armour displayed as well.[4]

1991

On 12 September 1991, Draco Malfoy challenged Harry Potter for a duel at midnight in the Trophy Room. Draco never showed up, but warned Argus Filch that some first-years would be in the Trophy Room after hours. In the early minutes of 13 September, Harry Potter, Ronald Weasley, Hermione Granger and Neville Longbottom escaped Filch through the Armoury. During the escape, Neville tripped and both him and Ron crashed into one of the suits of armour, making enough noise to "wake the whole castle". The four Gryffindors eventually left the Armoury thus evading Filch.[1]

1998

In the Battle of Hogwarts, all of the suits of armour were summoned by Minerva McGonagall to defend the castle and fight.[5]
