Harry Potter becomes head of the Auror Office.
20 September: Jeremiah Muldoon violated the International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy in an attempt to influence a group of Muggle campers by circling them on a broom at extremely low altitude while repeatedly proclaiming 'I'm a wizard! Magic is real!'

July:
- The long-awaited final novel in the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, is first published. Joanne Rowling signed books for eight hours for 1500 people.
- The film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is released.
  - Video game adaptations of the Order of the Phoenix film and book are launched thereafter.
The Tales of Beedle the Bard is first published in an extremely limited edition for charity.
