UNSC Musashi was a Carrier in service with the UNSC Navy during the Human-Covenant war.
Operational History
Musashi was one of the hundreds of ships that was present at the Battle of Reach. It was destroyed while moving to cover the Orbital Defense Platforms, when an Energy projector from a Covenant "Supercruiser" severed Musashi amidships. The aft section's engines were still burning even after it was severed from the rest of the ship.[1]
Trivia
- The ships namesake is a reference to the WW2 Imperial Japanese battleship of the same name, Musashi. Built as one of the 3 Yamato-class battleships, Musashi was the most powerful battleship throught the war. It would see sporatic service across the Pacific theatre until it was sunk by aircraft from American carriers.
- Curiously, Musashi in the Halo universe is a carrier. This could be a nod to the fact air power supplanted gun power at the end of WW2 as the Yamato-class were the most powerful battleships ever constructed.
