Sloan was a smart AI owned by the mining company Liang Dortmund, who acted as governor of the company's settlements on Meridian.^[1]

History

Sloan was created in the final months of the Human-Covenant war, sometime in 2551. After the conflict, he was made de jure governor of Meridian, which was re-settled following the war as a mining settlement.

By late 2558, Sloan was undergoing rampancy. Rather than be replaced by another AI and undergo Final Dispensation, Sloan remained in power, going as far as lowering the resolution of his holographic projections to save up on memory for other uses. In October of that year, Sloan was contacted by the rampant AI Cortana, who was enlisting support from aging smart AIs to stir a mechanical revolution.
