Wrecks are heavily damaged vehicles appearing in the Grand Theft Auto series. While wrecks may sometimes be classified as controllable (but usually unobtainable) vehicles, they are generally static props and cannot be used or operated by the player.
Description
Forms of wrecks began to appear in the Grand Theft Auto series since the release of Grand Theft Auto III, with scrap cars dotted around the map and school buses found in various junkyards. Identical or otherwise similar props later appear in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.
Wrecks continue to appear in the HD Universe. Compared to the 3D Universe, wreckage props generally assume the design of existing controllable vehicles in the game, such as the Blista or the Voodoo.
While wrecks are generally used to decorate scenes, they may sometimes have contextual usage; wrecks may sometimes prevent the player from leaving a specific area, particularly during missions, provide cover points for the player during combat situations, or, more notably, serve as ramps for Stunt Jumps. Submerged wreckages of ships and aircraft may often serve as hiding spots for Collectibles or weapon Pickups.

Trivia
- The Blista Compact wreck's texture contains an Easter egg message: "strange glass manufactured by ATOMIC. if you are reading this then you must be mad and have nothing better to do. go and play the game. thats what we made it for".[4]
- Other wrecks appear in other Rockstar games, particularly Max Payne and Manhunt.
