Toe Shoes

Toe Shoes is a clothing brand in Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online that sells athletic shoes and caps.

Description

Their shoes are advertised on the radio and on billboards in Los Santos, although the player isn't able to purchase them. However, a Toe Shoes fitted cap is available for Franklin in his bedroom at the Clinton Residence. Its in-game website is toeshoesusa.com.

Characters seen using them include Imran Shinowa, Paige Harris, Fabien LaRouche, Henry Smith the 4th, and Steve Haines, as well as certain Pedestrians.

It is a parody of Vibram FiveFingers, a line of shoes designed to mimic the human foot. Toe Shoes sells the REPULS lineup, according to the billboard ad. The name is clearly a reference to the word 'repulsive', meaning to arouse intense distaste or disgust, a nod to how feet usually smell disgusting.

Devin Weston Holdings owns a stake in Toe Shoes. Toe Shoes is one of the official sponsors of the Weazel program Fame or Shame.

Radio Commercial

Imaging Voice: "You want to up your running game? Run like a caveman! Finally, shoes are getting back to nature. Toe Shoes! You were born barefoot, your ancestors ran barefoot, and now, Toe Shoes allow you to run barefoot with shoes that look like feet! Slightly deformed, web-toed, brightly-colored feet. Just like your ancestors' that died at 25 of rickets! Feel like wearing no shoes at all, as nature intended! Toe Shoes! They're shoes for toes and twats."

Trivia

  • Toe Shoes are mentioned by Trevor or Franklin during their first encounter with Ursula. Ursula, implied to be a serial killer, mentions one of her ideas to make shoes that look like feet. Trevor and Franklin both mention Toe Shoes to tell her the idea already exists and can be bought, although she does not understand and calls them silly, remarking that they were impossible to buy as she had not made them yet.
  • One of the product's slogan - "for toes and twats" - refers to the pretentious reputation surrounding advocates of barefoot running. Most characters shown in-game wearing them tend to have pretentious or entitled personalities, furthering this joke.
