Darnell Bros.

This article or section is currently Under Construction.
The following content may be incomplete and/or not verified.

An exciting addition to your property portfolio, the iconic Darnell Bros is now for sale. Please don't be put off by the devastating that destroyed all evidence of the previous businesses. We assure you, the garment factory has been painstakingly refurbished, including the addition of a first-floor office space boasting privacy and security for all your legitimate professional needs. And this time, it's almost health and safety certified.

Darnell Bros. is a garment factory owned by Lester Crest, who uses the factory as a front for his various heist operations in Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online, that appears as a purchasable property in the Agents of Sabotage update.

Description

Located on Popular Street in La Mesa, Los Santos, the factory was previously owned by Lester Crest, who used the garment business as a front to prepare various heists during the game. Several of Lester's workers could be found working at the several rows of sewing machines inside the factory, whilst also providing Lester with the various materials he uses to prepare his heists. The factory's design suggests it was built during the 1920s. The radio station playing inside is East Los FM 106.2.

Influence

It is based on the former Southwestern Bag Co. warehouse, which is located at 635 Mateo St., Los Angeles[1].

Events

Events of Grand Theft Auto Online in 2013

The factory served as a meeting point for the GTA Online Protagonist and Lester Crest to discuss plans for the Fleeca Job, as well as a drop-off point for several heist materials and equipment for both the Fleeca Job and the Pacific Standard heist. Paige Harris would also wait within the factory to collect dropped-off equipment and bring it inside.

The original Heists, along with all pre-Gunrunning update content, are still available to be played post timeline advance in GTA Online. The Darnell Bros. Garment Factory was kept in its original state for further Heists replayability. All of these original Heist missions set in the garment factory are still set in their original setting of 2013, shortly prior to being torched.

Events of Grand Theft Auto V

The factory acts as the main base of operations for some of the game's heists. Here, Lester and Michael De Santa plan a robbery on the high-end jewelry store Vangelico and a raid on the FIB Headquarters to steal sensitive information.

In the opening cutscene of The Bureau Raid, Lester and Michael burn down the factory, both to cover any evidence of them planning the heist and for Lester to claim the insurance on the factory. If the Roof approach was chosen, the player can fly the Maverick close to the factory to witness it going up in flames, which will prompt Franklin and Michael to comment on the spectacle. Following the mission, the factory doors will be blocked off by police tape, while the outer walls of the building will be scorched from the fire.

Events of Grand Theft Auto Online after 2013

Main article: Garment Factory

During the events of the Agents of Sabotage update in Grand Theft Auto Online, set in 2024, Lester has put the building up for sale on Maze Bank Foreclosures. Pavel contacts the GTA Online Protagonist and suggests that they buy it, insisting he has a new opportunity for them if he does. Once purchased, the factory begins operating as a legitimate clothing manufacturer again. On the lower level, former Federal Investigation Bureau officer Jodi Marshall sets up shop. Pavel introduces her as a former agent who was let go for uncovering malpractice by the bureau. She reveals she still has backdoor access to the FIB's networks and files, and offers to use them to help the Protagonist and Pavel pull off a new series of daring heists.
