Saviors (stylized as 'SAVIORS') is the fourteenth studio album by Green Day. It was released on January 19, 2024, through Reprise Records. The album was originally titled 1972 and was confirmed by the band in 2022.
Background
Originally rumored to be an EP, it would then be confirmed by the band to become a full album, although no further information regarding tracks or an upcoming release. It is the first time since Kerplunk! that the band will not be under the supervision of Reprise Records, and the first time also since the ¡Uno! ¡Dos! ¡Tré! trilogy that Rob Cavallo will be producing the album. Parts of 1972 were first recorded at RAK Studios in London, England and then the band continued at Ocean Way Recordings in Hollywood, California.
Speculation on details about the album has risen on the meta “threads” app after Billie Joe Armstrong replied to a user named “@lincdalley35” by saying, “1972 is dead.” Many threads users speculated that either the name “1972” wouldn’t be used, or that the album was scrapped entirely. The album was then retitled to Saviors.
