Andrae Hugh Sutherland (b. 19 July 1988), better known as Popcaan, is a Jamaican DJ and singer from St. Thomas Parish.
Role in Gorillaz
Popcaan collaborated with Gorillaz on Saturnz Barz, the lead single from the 2017 studio album Humanz. He later joined Gorillaz on the Humanz Tour, was a part of the lineup for Gorillaz' Demon Dayz Festival and appeared on Song Machine Tour in 2021.
Musical career
Born In Saint Thomas, Jamaica, Sutherland grew up in Portmore, St Catherine. As young as seven years old, Sutherland trained himself as a vocalist and performer.
Popcaan had his breakthrough in Jamaica, as well as internationally, in 2008-2010 during his time with the Vybz Kartel Musical Empire. In 2014, Popcaan signed with Mixpak Records and released Where We Come From, his debut album.
