Acoustic 2

20th Anniversary Boxset Art

Acoustic 2 is the demo for the song Latin Simone from Gorillaz' self titled album and the 5th and final track on the Demoz LP from the Gorillaz 20th Anniversary Boxset.

Lyrics

Set up
In the cycle of love
Get up
And do what you want to
'Cause everything comes to the side of you
You know what it means

Give up
If you wanna survive
Give up, oh
Come on, I have everything
Since this at a loose end
I won't
Want some love head on
Oh, what's the matter with me?
What's the matter with me?

Give up, over tonight
Everything comes with sad and then it dies
But you need no-one
Lonely
Lonely
Lonely

Recording and Information

Acoustic 2 was written around 1999 and it's one of the first Gorillaz demos made by Damon Albarn, around the same time other demos, such as Hand Clapper and Bill Murray were also being written. Albarn used the same machine to record the demos for the tracks from the Blur album 13,[1] such as I Got Law, which would later evolve into Tomorrow Comes Today. The recording process for Latin Simone was shown on the Bananaz documentary, despite the version from the film being different than the one released on the LP.

This version consists mostly of a rough guitar and piano, both played by Damon, alongside his own vocals.
