Greek Mythology
In Greek myth, Nymphs were beautiful young maidens, who were also daughters of gods, and guardians of wilderness. One of the most famous types were the Nyads. in one of the versions of Abduction of Persephone , Demeter turns them into monsters for failing to protect her daughter from Hades.
In God of War II
Nymphs are small, uncommon but pesky enemies encountered in God of War II.
It appears as a small bird-like creature with four pairs of wings. It attacks Kratos by spitting a burst of green energy at him, or shooting webbing which momentarily traps him, leaving him open to attacks.
Kratos can easily kill them by grabbing and throwing them to the ground, proceeding to crush their heads underfoot.
Hades Nymph

A second type of Nymph, Hades Nymphs appear as a red/orange variant encountered later in the game. They can swoop at Kratos (often in swarms), and attack by spitting small fireballs from a distance.
As with their lesser cousins, Kratos can grab them at any time, and rip their wings off with his hands. Additionally, he then throws their flaming bodies, which can be utilized to both kill the Nymph and damage surrounding enemies
Hades Nymphs often appear from nests, which must be destroyed in order to avoid the creatures spawning infinitely. These nests are encountered atop Atlas, and beyond the Phoenix Statue room.
