In God of War: Chains of Olympus, Attica is a city instead of a region and the location where Kratos began his quest. It was here where he fought off an invading Persian army. As he made his way through the city, he also fought and killed the Persian King, and ultimately the Basilisk that had terrorized the city.

It is very likely that Attica was destroyed by the flood caused by the death of Poseidon.
